Newsweek has published its 2012 Greenest Companies in the US, and it actually has companies who are manufacturers rather than just service sector companies. The big winner was technology giant IBM. The company obviously has a very large services component, but they do manufacture items, as does the number two company in the list, HP. In fact HP has reduced its emissions by more than 50 percent since 2005. Other manufacturing firms on the greenest list include other technology firms such as Dell, Nvidia, Intel and EMC. Newsweek's survey looked at the largest 500 American firms, comparing their environmental footprint, corporate management and transparency.
