Kintetsu World Express has announced that its net profit rose 2.4 percent in the first half of fiscal 2012, which started on April 1, from a year earlier to USD60.44 million on a consolidated basis. The company’s group operating revenue declined 6.5 percent in the April-September period from the same six-month period last year to USD1.59 billion. Its group operating profit edged up 1.3 percent to USD84.30 million. KWE’s extraordinary losses, including a valuation loss on securities holdings, shrank sharply to USD1.68 million in the April-September period from USD4 million a year earlier. Nippon Express, Yusen Logistics and KWE are Japan’s three largest international freight forwarders.
